"The angels and demons side by side" sang Finnish favourite Jari Sillanpää in his 2004 Eurovision entry Takes 2 To Tango. He’s incorporated the rather hellish imagery in his latest tour which has met with unmittigated success in his home country.
Despite failing to take Finland to the final at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul, Finns seemingly can’t get enough of boyish charmer Jari Sillanpää. He’s been busy touring the length and breadth of the country, reaching out to all of his fans. Having had a chance to recharge his batteries over Christmas, Jari is still overwhelmed at the success of the tour.
But it’s not just the fans who have been drawing on superlatives when describing Jari’s electric stage show; even music critics have been falling over themselves after having experienced the star live. His concerts have also featured some surprising covers, such as Elton John’s Your Song as well as an ABBA medley and even putting his own stamp on Lordi‘s Eurovision winner from 2006 Hard Rock Hallelujah!
With a considerable back catalogue to delve into, his Liekeissä (Flames) tour has been jam packed with his previous hits and with twelve successful albums to choose from in addition to this year’s compilation album Kaikkien Aikojen Parhaat, audiences have been spoilt for choice. High on the success of his autumn tour dates, Jari recently announced that he intends to continue the Liekeissä tour into 2014, with even more dates, stopping off at ten places, including even a brief overseas sojourn.
