Latvian broadcaster LTV announced that the dates of the musical event Eirodziesma, which selects their representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, has been changed in order to fit into a busy schedule with currency change and Winter Olympics.
Latvian national broadcaster LTV is one of representative member in Eurovision Song Contest who earlier geared up for the preparations regarding the national song festival, Eirodziesma. Having one of the worst series at the contest lead the Latvian
broadcaster to take a couple of precautions regarding their classical
selection show named Eirodziesma. Therefore some change of rules will be
applied this year: The composers of any submitted song have to be
Latvian. The language of the participating entry is not limited by any
means.
Previously the dates for Eirodziesma would be set as,
- Song Submission – 1st November/20th November 2013
- Song Introduction – 2nd December 2013
- First Semifinal of Eirodziesma – 18th January 2014
- Second Semifinal of Eirodziesma – 19th January 2014
- Final – 1st February 2014
After some evaluation, the broadcaster decided to make some change of dates to produce a better show in every way. So far, LTV has a schedule to go on – the country will have a brand new currency, Euro, with a big ceremony in Riga, there will also be Winter Olympic Games to broadcast and all requires very heavy technical preparetions as well as Eirodziesma 2014.
Therefore the broadcaster decided to postpone the Eirodziesma 2014. The rules and regulations remain the same as well as the deadline of song submittions. The new schedule for Eirodziesma as it follows:
