Eurovision Song Contest artists perform at 2008 Popkomm Festival

The Popkomm Music Festival & DJ Popkomm are ready to start in Berlin this year. Singers and dancers from 35 different countries from all over the world will participate in the festival. Fans will a have great chance to see Eurovision Song Contest singers live this October.

The Popkomm Festival is one of the world’s most prominent showcase festivals, with more than 400 solo artists, bands and DJs playing in over 25 official locations. It is probably the most international of all the music festivals across Europe. Experienced stars and newcomers alike will take to the stage during the festival’s run.

Over 2,000 applicants from 35 countries wanted to take part in this year’s Popkomm Festival. The international music paradise, Popkomm 2008, will start on the 8th of October and will run for three days. Thousands of people are expected to visit Berlin during the three days to revel in the atmosphere and take in the numerous concerts.

The festival will also be of interest to Eurovision Song Contest fans, they will have the opportunity to see their favourite stars from the Eurovision performing. This year’s partner country is Turkey.

On the first day of the festival, Turkish rock band Athena, who represented Turkey at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest, will give a concert at the Turkish Pop & Rock stage. They had a 4th place finish with the song "For Real". After Athena, another Eurovision Song Contest group, MFÖ, will take to the stage. MFÖ participated twice for Turkey in 1985 and 1988 with the songs "Didai Didai Dai" and "Sufi".

On one of the other stages, the Danish rock band Nephew who competed in the national finals in Denmark for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest will perform as a special guest in the "Brazilian Showcase and Special Guests".

Mr. Lordi, who won the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, will give a concert titled "Hard Rock Hallelujah", which is the same title as their winning song, on the third day of the festival on 10th of October.
