Melodifestivalen 2010 – Interview with the hosts

During the second day of rehearsals we got the chance to talk to two of the three hosts of Melodifestivalen 2010, Måns Zelmerlöw and Christine Meltzer.

Måns Zelmerlöw
What is more nervous, participating as artist or as a host?
It’s more nervous to participate as an artist, then you only have three minutes to convince the audience that you have a great act. As a host you got six weeks. Of course you need to do your best at all times but you still got six weeks to convince the audience that this is something I do well.

What was your first thought when you got the offer to be one of the hosts for Melodifestivalen 2010?
I’d heard rumors that I was in question to host Melodifestivalen. But since a lot of the things you hear when you are in this business isn’t true I didn’t quite want to believe it until I got it confirmed from Svt. When it was confirmed I was of course very happy. This is one of the coolest jobs you can have, to host one of Sweden’s biggest entertainment shows.

What was your first thought when you heard who your co-hosts was?
At first I was wondering what they were thinking. But when I’d though about it for a little while I understood how genius idea this was. Dolph and Christine are my new best friends, we are having so much fun together. I think it’s an exciting combination for the viewer’s too.

You are still very young but have accomplished a lot of great things already, do you still have dreams that you want to fulfill?
Yes of course, I have a lot of dreams! I would like to represent Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest sometime, if Svt will let me enter this competition again. I want to act in a movie, I want to do more musicals, I want to host more shows, I would like to have a career as an artist abroad.

What question would you liked to be asked and what would your answer be?
The question is: What year will you win Melodifestivalen?
And the answer would be: 2012.

Christine Meltzer
Is there any difference between this job and other host jobs you have done?
Yes it is! This is a hugh show with a lot of viewer’s and people everywhere. You can’t really compare it with anything else I’ve done.

What was your first thought when you got the offer to be one of the hosts for Melodifestivalen 2010?
First I thought that they asked me to participate as an interval act or something. But when I understood that they asked me to be a host I was overwhelmed. I really love Melodifestivalen! This is a dream for me, Melodifestivalen is a big interest of mine.

What was your first thought when you heard who your co-hosts was?
I immediately thought that it would be a great idea that Måns would host the show. But when I heard that Dolph was the third host I was a little surprised. But when I’d thought about it for a while I thought it was a wonderful but nutty idea.

Looking back, which song is your favourite in Melodifestivalen?
It alters but I like Chips song Dag efter dag, all of Lena Philipson’s songs and Pernilla Wahlgren’s Piccadilly circus. My favourite year is 1985.

And your favourite song from Eurovision Song Contest?
Sandra Kim –  J’aime la vie

What question would you liked to be asked and what would your answer be?
My question would be: How will I do tomorrow?
And the answer is: Great!
