Warm up to Christmas by listening to the beautiful carols performed by Eurovision artists. Each day until Christmas features a new act giving their version of a Christmas song. As 22nd, we listen to a duet between Anggun & Ronan Keating.
Today’s Christmas song is a duet between two who both have a Eurovision participation on their CV. Anggun represented France at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. Despite high expectations, she however finished 22nd with just 21 points for the song Echo (You and I).
Her partner in this duet, Ronan Keating, did better in his Eurovision participation(s). In 1997, he hosted the contest held in Dublin, Ireland together with Carrie Crowley. In 2009, he was one of the songwriters behind the Danish entry Believe Again which Niels Brinck sang to a 13th place.
In today’s advent calendar you can hear Anggun and Ronan Keating in a duet on Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. The song is originally written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane, and first performed by Judy Garland in the 1944 musical “Meet Me in St. Louis”. Frank Sinatra recorded it in 1957 with slightly different lyrics, and since then, many artists have recorded it. Recently, Michael Bublé (in 2011) and Sam Smith (in 2014) turned it into big hits for them.
