Albania will be performing 14th in the upcoming First Semi Final this Tuesday. The country is represented by Elhaida Dani with the song I’m Alive. Are there any changes since the country’s first rehearsal? What is the impression left by the song amongst the other entries in the running order? We try to answer your questions reporting live from inside the hall of Wiener Stadthalle.
Although the stage is lit beautifully, there are no exciting elements such as intricate camera work with this one. Reflecting the qualities of the song, the Albanian presentation is all about understatement. Perhaps the one exciting/sensational thing about I’m Alive is Alhaida’s vocal abilities. Her voice is beautiful, expressive and strong at hitting difficult notes. What is more, everything this afternoon looks a notch improved compared to Albania’s first rehearsal. Even Elhaida’s make up looks nicer, not to mention her moving more comfortably on the stage and smiling at the camera. It is a change of mood after Denmark’s upbeat song, but a bit of an odd one in terms of musical styles – only in Eurovision would you be able to hear a Beatlesque pop song and a Balcan ballad played back to back. The song has a strong following and the presentation creates of beautiful Eurovision moment. I would think it is likely to make it to the final but I am not entirely sure.
Having participated ten times at the semi finals, Albania has managed to progress five times to the final.
