The Netherlands sends Douwe Bob to Eurovision

Yesterday the Dutch broadcaster confirmed its artist for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. 22 year old Douwe Bob will represent the country that hasn’t won the contest since 1975 and in recent years experienced quite some mixed results. Douwe Bob is the first artist known for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

All over Europe countries are preparing for national selections or in some cases an internal selection in order to find their representative for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The Netherlands went for the latter as they yesterday announced that it will be Douwe Bob that will fly the Dutch flag in Stockholm, Sweden.

Douwe Bob is 22 years old folk – and country musician who first shot to fame as he won the talent competition “De beste singer-songwriter van Nederland” in 2012. The following year he released his first album Born In A Storm and two year later, this May, Pass It On as the follow up was released. The first album reached a 7th position on the Dutch album top100, and the second one went to top first position, so Douwe Bob is a man who knows how success feels like.

The song with which Douwe Bob will represent the Netherlands at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest isn’t expected to be published before early 2016. Below you can however see him in a duet with another Dutch Eurovision participant, Anouk. This song is called Hold Me and is from January 2015.
