Merry Christmas: Eurovision Advent calendar day 12

Warm up to Christmas by listening to the beautiful carols performed by Eurovision artists. Each day until Christmas features a new act giving their version of a Christmas song. As 12th, we go to the Netherlands to hear Ilse DeLange.

In 2014, the Netherlands came in as a strong runner up. With the country pop ballad Calm After The Storm, The Common Linnets finished second with 238 points. The duo consisted back then of Ilse DeLange and Waylon. While Waylon would return solo to the contest in 2018, we are yet to see Ilse do the same. She was a well known name in the Netherlands before the contest, and still enjoys great popularity.

Today’s Christmas song is titled Midden in de Winternacht, which translates to ‘In the middle of the winter night’. It is one of those songs, which most Dutch can sing along to. It is a children song which describes how all of nature and mankind praises the birth of Jesus Christ.
