Will Europe understand Portugal’s protests?

Next on stage was the Portuguese band Homens da Luta. After three years in a row of qualifying Portugal hopes to make it again to the final. But will this protest song be understood by the European audience?

Homens da Luta wore the same costumes as in their first rehearsal. These will probably be the stage outfits as well. During the performance they hold up placards in different languages. The backdrop shows red and green carnations. Red and green – the colours of the Portuguese flag and carnations as the sign of the Portuguese revolution in the 70s.

There were no problems during the rehearsal and the whole performance is quite harmonious, but it is still doubtful whether the European audience will understand this kind of message and vote Portugal to the final.
