The final semi-finalists to rehearse today were Turkey. This is the most contemporary song of the 39, and maNga are used to performing in arenas of this size. So a three-minute song like this should suit them.
This is a good song. It’s modern, it’s upbeat and it’ll be noticed among a strong semi-final. The staging is more or less right, although we have a lot of strobe lighting going on. For those of an epileptic disposition, this might be problematic.
The backing dancer starts off as a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica and finishes in a short dress waving flags. If they’re not careful, more attention could be focussed on her than on the song. However, it’s an allround popular song, and getting through to the 29 May Grand Final should not be a worry for Turkey.
