The second semifinal in the Slovakian search fot their 2009 Eurovision Song Contest entrant was held last night. Ten songs competed to be one of the three bests acts that qualified for the final to be held on 8th of March. In total six acts are now still in the running to represent the country that returns to the contest after 11 years absence.
The show was hosted by Martin Rausch and was broadcasted by Slovakian tv channel STV at the Bratislava studios. Ten songs participated and three of them qualified for the Slovakian national final which will be held on 8th March. The songs competed in this order:
- Babenky a týpci – Babenky a týpci
- Mária Círová – Búrka
- Jakub Petraník – Nadomnou
- Golden Storm – Daj mi len den
- Samo Tomecek – To co chceš
- Editor – Pod parou
- Mukatado – Ja sa mám
- Marek Kravjar – Geniálny cvok
- Anawi – V predstavách
- Tomáš Bezdeda – Kazdý z nás
The two acts that qualified to the final through televotes were:
- Tomáš Bezdeda – Kazdý z nás
- Mária Círová – Búrka
The last qualifier was chosen by jury voting:
- Mukatado – Ja sa mám

Last Slovakian entry was back in 1998 by Katarina Hasprova with her song Modlitba that finished 21st with only 8 points which they received by Croatia. Finally Slovakia is returning to the contest after 11 years. In 2009, the country will take part in the second semi final on 14th May.
