The first much awaited rehearsal of Sweden took place today. A packed press pit in the Crystal Hall wanted to see whether the hype was justified.
The press that saw Loreen rehearse were mainly impressed with her performance. It was broadly the same as what we saw in Melodifestivalen. She didn’t rehearse in her costume but we did see what she will be wearing. It will be the long flowing coat that she wore in the national final. This is over black leggings and a white top. She also still her her trademark hair with the fringe over her eyes.
She performs on a raised platform on the stage. To its side are three female backing singers that we don’t see much of. Finally, the male dancer joins her towards the end of the second chorus.
The backdrop is dark with more flashing lights to suit the melody. When her dancer appears tis changes to twinkling lights similar to stars. Also at this point the special effect of ‘snow’ starts falling in front of the stage. All very effective.
Her vocal were not perfect and there was a little trouble hearing all of the words. These are issues that can be easily resolved so we should see better things later in the week.
