Sigga and Páll Óskar team up for festive duet

The run up to Christmas sees all kinds of wierd and wonderful partnerships combining creative forces in order to cash in on the festive spirit and release a seasonal single. The music scene in Iceland is no different, the latest duo falling into the "wonderful" category.

Three times Icelandic Eurovision entrant Sigga has teamed up with 1997 entrant Páll Óskar to give fans a Christmas present in the form of their single release Jólin Koma Með Þér (Christmas comes with you). Sigga has been a household name on the saga island for almost two decades now, with her last release, Jólalögin Mín (My Christmas Songs) coming out in 2009. The singer has also been busy lately with preparations for her Christmas musical show Á Hátíðlegum Nótum (The Festive Notes) which will be held on the 11th of December.

Páll Óskar has had various projects since his participation at Eurovision in 1997, and has become the undisputed king of Icelandic pop music. His last studio release was in 2007, with Allt Fyrir Ástina, which went on to become the most sold album that year. Although Sigga herself has dabbled in festive music earlier, this is yet another feather to be added to Páll Óskar’s cap.

The song is composed by Ásgeir Valur Einarsson, with lyrics by both Páll Óskar and Einarsson. Judging by the feedback from fans on both artists’ pages, all things indicate that this will be a festive smash and become a yuletide classic.
