Malta tonight held the semi final with 24 acts competing for 16 places in the final tomorrow night. The show was presented by Ronald Briffa and Elaine Saliba. The Malta selection this year returns to the MFCC centre in Ta’ Qali.
The 24 songs and acts are –
- Seven Days Danica Muscat – Danica opens the show and looks very charming in her red dress. Great start to the show with this lovely ballad.

You Are My Life Janvil
– This is a very different style for Mister Showbiz. A very simple but effective performance of this country style pop song. Janvil is accompanied by a band on stage. -
Walk On Water Isabelle Zammit
– Isabelle gives a strong performance helped by gospel style backing vocalists. -
Take Me Far Francesca Borg
– Very good vocals from Francesca. Strong and gutsy performance. -
No Way Back Klinsmann
– Another simple and effective light rock style song for Klinsmann. -
Look At Me Now Richard Edwards
– One of the favourites to take the title this year, Richard gives a solid performance with this pop/rock song. -
Whoop It Up Annalise Ellul
– This could be an entry in the Greek final. Uptempo and lively show from Annalise. -
This Is The Night Kurt Calleja
– Very different style from Kurt’s 2011 entry. Uptempo and cool performance from Kurt. This could go all the way. -
DNA Romina Mamo
– A really good and happy performance by Romina. Great style and Bond like stage show. -
Can’t Get Away Nadine Bartolo
– Nadine is wearing a blue dress. Nice performance. -
In Your Eyes Lawrence Gray
– Lawrence has a very strong voice with this melodic ballad. -
First Time Kaya – Strong performance by Kaya. This goes down well.

Pure Claudia Faniello
– Claudia is wearing a silver dress. She gives her all to this strong ballad. -
Dance Romance Jessica Muscat
– Jessica gives a good show on stage for this catchy upbeat number. -
Time Wayne Micallef
– Wayne is playing keyboards and has good vocals to this rather ordinary ballad. -
Autobiography Dorothy Bezzina
– A very good performance by Dorothy and her backing vocalists. A good song that really grows on you. -
Petals On A Rose Gianni

Gianni and his band in black and white give a good performance of this rock song. -
I Will Fight For You (Papa’s Song) Fabrizio Faniello
– Very catchy and upbeat song for Fabrizio. Great performance with his dancers attempting some break dancing. -
While Her Eyes Still Glow Janice Mangion
– Janice has very strong vocals and gives a good performance of this gentle ballad. -
I Want To Run Away Eleanor Cassar
– A different style for Eleanor. This is an upbeat and lively pop/dance song with excellent vocals as normal. Could be a contender. -
Mystifying Eyes Corazon
– Good vocals to a gospel type song. -
You Make Me Go Uh Uh Deborah C feat. Leila James
– Very catchy and so striking. An upbeat dance song that everyone will remember. Great show by Deborah & Leila. -
Still Waiting Anna Azzopardi
– not a bad performance by Anna but this song may get lost amongst the other entries. -
Answer With Your Eyes Amber
– Amber’s vocals and backing singers are very strong. She gives a really good performance to end the show.
The expert jury includes last year’s winners from Azerbaijan, Ell & Nikki. The results will be decided by a combination of jury and televoting.
The interval includes the 2012 Switzerland Eurovision participants, Sinplus, performing their entry, Unbreakable. They also perform an indy/rock style song, Do You Want To Dance?

The final is on Saturday night, 4 February. We will see who will make it to Baku for Malta for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.
