Russian National Final to be Held on 7th March

The Russian broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest, RTR, has announced that the Russian final will be held on 7th March.

There will be two phases at the selections this year: The first phase will be between December 2009 and February 2010. The second phase will culminate in the final on 7th March.

The other notable rules are:

– All the candidate songs will be listened to by an internal panel
– 25 songs will go to the final
– There will be a jury and public (SMS and web) vote on the final
– RTR can invite artists to participate as wildcards.

Russia won the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade in 2008 with Dima Bilan and his song Believe. Russia organised the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow last May. You can check Eurovisionary for more information.
