After a successful return to the Eurovision Song Contest last year and recent confirmation of participation in Baku, rumours have started about who RAI may ask to travel to Azerbaijan. One name being touted is Marco Mengoni.
According to the website, soundsblog.it, Marco Mengoni is the favourite to attempt to go one better than Rafael Gualazzi’s second place in Dusseldorf. Last year, the Italian representative was chosen from the Sanremo Festival, but Marco’s tour would make it difficult for him to be take part in the festival this year.
There is a poll on the site asking readers to choose whether they want Marco do participate in Sanremo, Eurovision or neither of these. Currently, the most popular choice is for him to go to Baku.
Marco first found fame when he won the Italian version of X-Factor in 2009. The following year, he came third in Sanremo with the rock song, Credimi Ancora.
