The next phase of the German Unser Star für Oslo competition is held. 8 acts to continue.

The bottom 2 acts will be eliminated from this 3rd show to decide who will participate for Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo in May. 10 acts competed and 8 will continue to the next part of the competition.

Joining Stefan Raab on the jury this week were König Boris from the Fettes Brot band and the legendary German singer, Nena. Her biggest hit was 99 Red Balloons and she also participated in the German national selection in 1998.

1. Meri Voskanian performed If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys. This soulful ballad was very well performed. This was a great start to the show.

2. Jennifer Braun sang Like The Way I Do from Melissa Etheridge. Jennifer gave another powerful performance with this rock type song. This was a great follow up to last week’s great start.

3. Maria-Lisa Straßburg performed Helena originally by Chemical Romance. This is not a well know song to many people but Maria-Lisa gave a good performance.

4. Leon Taylor again sang a German song, Irgendwas Bleibt from Silbermond. Leon gave another solid soulful performance.

5. Katrin Walter sang Warwick Avenue from Duffy. This gave a lovely performance of the classic and soulful Duffy song.

6. Kerstin Freking sang Not Ready To Make Nice from the Dixie Chicks. This country style song was given a good interpretation by Kerstin.

7. Christian Durstewitz performed Change from Daniel Merriwether. A very strong performance from Christian. This went down well with the audience.

8. Sharyhan Osman took a gamble and performed her own song, Feel The Nile. After her outstanding performance of a Whitney Houston song last week, Sharyan gave another outstanding performance of a ballad. It would be good to hear her do some uptempo songs next time.

9. Lena Meyer-Landrut sang Diamond Dave from Bird & the Bee. Lena’s unusual style worked again with the audience. Lena reminds me of a singer from the UK X Factor in 2008, Diana Vickers. She has a cool, quirky style.

10. Cyril Krueger sang Hot Fudge from Robbie Williams. This is not one of Robbie’s more well known songs but Cyril gave a good performance.

So, to the results. The 8 acts through to the next stage are Cyril Krueger, Kerstin Freking, Jennifer Braun, Leon Taylor, Christian Durstewitz, Katrin Walter, Lena Meyer-Landrut and Sharyhan Osman
