Last night Serbia chose their song for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. The winner was selected by public televoting among five finalists from yesterday’s semifinal. This year, Moje 3 will represent Serbia with the song Ljubav Je Svuda.
The Songs
1: Saška Janković – Duga U Tvojim Očima (The Rainbow In Your Eyes)
The song started with a powerful cello intro, and the rest of the song continued almost as strongly. Saška showed everyone how far her voice can reach.
2: SKY’s – Magija (Magic)
This song may be used to define teenage pop. Three girls were wearing leather and trying to enrich the performance with barely synchronized dance moves.
3: Dušan Svilar – Spas (Salvation)
If you’re a fan of ethnic stuff, you’re in the right place. This song is ornamented with drum, caval, and guitar. Hajde, hajde! You can’t sit still while listening to this.
4: Marija Mihajlović – Halo (Hello)
Halo was the jazziest tune of the contest. Marija was sitting on a chair next to the piano, in a black outfit. It would be fair to say that vocal abilities were string in this performance.
5: Moje 3 – Ljubav Je Svuda (Love Is Everywhere)
This Europop track was performed by the three girls, one of whom was dressed up in red (with horn-like hair accessories), one in white, and one in gold. They were apparently representing angel, demon and a neutral being.
The Show
The voting started after all of the songs had been performed, and the viewers had 10 minutes to make up their minds. The interval act took the viewers to the time machine, showing hit songs from Serbia’s Eurovision history. Firstly, Marija Serifovic (2007) performed a completely new version of Molitva. After that, the orchestra of RTS played the melodies of Lane Moje (2004) and Oro (2008), which are unforgettable songs from the country’s past. The interval act continued with several performances from Serbia’s Got Talent Show (Ja Imam Talenat).
