Melodifestivalen 2015 – the voting numbers revealed

The full voting numbers for all the six shows of Melodifestivalen 2015 were announced on the Tuesday. The full results shows that the new voting app not only increased the number of votes tremendously, it also reveals that the first songs in heat one suffered from that people was still getting familiarized with the app.

The full voting results for all the six shows were announced on the Tuesday. What is maybe most remarkable is the close race between Samir & Viktor and Magnus Carlsson in the second heat in Malmö: Samir & Viktor collected 13 748 more votes than Magnus in the first voting round which included app votes. In the second voting round where only telephone and sms votes are counted Magnus Carlsson received 14 182 votes more making the total numbers of votes for the two rounds 475 183 for Samir & Viktor and 475 617 for Magnus.

The new voting app launched by SVT meant that the numbers of votes
increased enormously. The total number of votes for the six shows was 14
426 739 which can be compared to 3 273 285 in 2014.
When you compare the number of votes from the first heat with the other heats it becomes clear that people still downloaded and familiarized themself with the app during the first two or three songs which of course made a difference in the results for these songs in the end. Molly Pettersson Hammar would most likely have done a better result and maybe also Elize & Rickard. The total number of votes for the first heat was 1 223 990. For the other three heats the number of voters were between 2 381 111 and 2 864 296.

The second rounds of the voting where only telephone and sms votes were allowed also shows some rather interesting results, for example JTR was last of the five remaining songs in this round in the fourth heat, yet they had enough votes from the first app-round to qualify to the final.
