While preparing for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest the Norwegian representative Maria Haukaas Storeng has also been in the studio to finish an album, which will be released shortly before her departure for Belgrade.
The new album, which hasn’t been given a title, yet will be released on Universal Music and Maria is enthusiastic: I never thought I would be releasing an album at such a large and established record company. It gives security and depth and one feel that they take you seriously, Maria says to VG.
It is Maria Haukaas Storeng’s second album and Simen Eriksrud from Livingroom Studios produces it. Despite that it has all been arranged rather quickly Maria says that it is not an album made in a rush: It is material I have been working with for more than two years and the idea has always been to make a record with pop added a bit of retro style”.
Mira Craig wrote Maria’s winning song, Hold On Be Strong and she is also involved in more of the songs on the new album. Before the Norwegian final, Mira Craig and I wrote several songs together which fits well on this album, Maria says and adds that for her personal she feels a bit more comfortable now that she can go to Belgrade with more than just one song!
The new album will be released in May, but her previous album from 2005 is still available for fans to order.
