MaNga to be Turkish Representative in Oslo?

According to many Turkish press agencies, famous Turkish rock group MaNga will be representing Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Oslo this year.

The winner of MTV Best European Act 2009, MaNga, will be representing Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest according to many respected Turkish press agencies such as FOX and Milliyet. They also claim that the agreement between MaNga and TRT was already signed before.

After all the speculation, TRT has announced that the official agreement has not been sent to MaNga yet. MaNga also announced that they have many songs ready for the Eurovision Song Contest.

MaNga, the Turkish nu metal and hardcore rock group was formed in 2001 by the lead singer Ferman Akgün. The other members are Orçun Şekerusta (bass guitar), Özgür Can Öney (Drum), Efe Yılmaz (Turntable) and Cem Bahtiyar (guitar). The group had won a competition Sing Your Song before they became famous.

Golden Globe Awards (Turkey) – Best Rising Group

2009: MTV EMA ’09: Best European Act & Best Turkish Act

It is also believed that MaNga will have the best opportunity to go on promo tours as they have an important contract with SONY Music, only Sertab Erener had the same contract during her Eurovision journey, which resulted in first Turkey’s first Eurovision Song Contest winner.
