The venue for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 has been announced by the European Broadcasting Union, even though the 2009 show hasn’t been held yet. The 8th Junior Eurovision Song Contest show will be held in Minsk, the capital city of Belarus.
It is already five months until the 7th Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Kyiv, Ukraine. The European Broadcasting Union announced the 8th Junior Eurovision Song Contest’s host, and the honour is given to Minsk, capital city of Belarus.
The grand show is supposed to be broadcast on 20th November 2010 and the broadcasting rights have been given to Belarussian broadcaster BTRC. Svante Stockselius, the Executive Supervisor of the event on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union, said: "Belarus is a committed participant of the Eurovision Song Contest and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and won the latter twice. Moreover, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is one of Belarus’ most popular
television shows. Finally, BTRC’s bid to host the competition gave the Steering Group the confidence that they are capable of hosting the competition."
The venue for the contest will be the Minsk Arena, which can hold up to 15 000 people.
