Irish Eurosong Singers Sing Tonight

One of the most anticipated finals of the Eurovision season, the Irish Eurosong 2008 was held tonight in the University Concert Hall, Limerick.

Hosted by Ray D’Arcy, there were six songs to choose from. Providing comment on each were former Eurovision winners, Dana and Marija Serifovic and pop mogul, Louis Walsh.

Donal Skehan – Double Cross My Heart. A typical euro-pop song to start with which Louis liked and Marija didn’t.

Dustin the Turkey – Irlande Douze Points. Possibly the most talked about act in any national final this year, Dustin has been a familiar face on Irish television for thirty years. Some will love it, others will hate it.

Maya – Time to Rise. The panel were critical of her vocal performance, saying she sang too much and too hard.

Leona Daly – Not Crazy After All. Featuring a Maria N. style strip, Louis liked it but the ladies weren’t so keen.

Liam Geddes – Sometimes. This is a song that Irish entries are made of, a well sung ballad. It went down well with everyone.

Marc Roberts – Chances. The 1997 Irish entrant returned with a more up-tempo number.

So, who do the panel think will win? Louis prefers Donal, Marija thinks it will be Dustin. Dana didn’t comment on who she thought would win but clearly doesn’t want the turkey. Marija performed ‘Molitva’ to end the show and we’ll all have to wait until 2245 CET to know the winner.
