It has been 5 years since Turkey’s Eurovision Song Contest entry was chosen in a national final. One of the Turkish fan zones has started to a campaign with a petition to have a national final for the road to Düsseldorf.
The Turkish online fan zone, Eurovisiondream, which is also supported by national broadcaster TRT, has launched a petition which is entitled: ‘We Want a National Final’.
Despite TRT receiving many successful results with their current system, such as winning contest in 2003 (with Sertab Erener), placing at 4th place three times (with Athena, Kenan Doğulu and Hadise), placing second last year with MaNga; the website reqests a national selection to celebrate a national final as other European countries do.
According to this project, ten professional songwriters and composers such as Sinan Akcil (Düm Tek Tek – 2009’s composer) and Sezen Aksu (2004 – Shake It Up Şekerim’s composer) will compose their songs to participate in this national final. It’s also planned that there will be several stages each month up to the final show. The voting is planned with three steps; TRT’s jury, a professional jury and televoting with votes 1 to 12 in each time and the winner will be chosen through a combination of these three voting steps.
The petition has been placed on the official fan page of Eurovision Dream both in Turkish and English. You can also sign by clicking
