Earlier this morning was held the national final to pick the Belgian candidate for the next edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The fourteen-year-old Fabian Feyaerts won the final with the song Abracadabra.
During the past four weeks all the candidates have been preparing their performances together with the coaches Ronny Mosuse, Kathleen Aerts and Brahim and today was the day to show it.
In the three rounds, which have taken place along this week, we have listened to all the candidates competing to achieve a place in the super final. Each coach had to choose one of their candidates per day to sing against the candidates picked by the other coaches and the best act of every day went straight to the final.
Then, the three finalists were the winners of the respective heats: Mai-Li (first heat), Lalaladies (second qualifying round) and Fabian (third round). There was also a wildcard place which was awarded by former winner Ralf Mackenbach and Lauren Ruyck (2010 Belgian representative) and it was for Jana.
Below, you can see the participants of the competition in the same running order of the show:
1. Abracadabra by Fabian Feyaerts
2. 3,2,1 Go! by Jana Schrauwen
3. Ik Ben Verliefd by Lalaladies (Sarah-Marie Jenne, Leonore Nassen, Yuki Dejonckheere, Emma Von Arx and Kaat Crick)
4. Zo Vrolijk Was Ik Nooit by Mai-Li De Raeymaker
The four finalists gave the best of themselves during their live performances and the three coaches expressed all appropriate comments.
The audience of the children’s television channel, Ketnet, had the last word today through televoting to decide who will represent Belgium at the tenth Junior Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Amsterdam. While making the counting of votes, we could enjoy the performance of Jill Shaw, who alongside Lauren Ruyck as the duo Jill & Lauren represented Belgium in 2010. During the broadcast also became known that the compilation album recorded by all the candidates from this national selection already reached gold status and all the participants received a gold record to hang above their beds.
At the end it was announced that Fabian Feyaerts, who has spent the last weeks coached by Ronny Mosuse, will represent the country at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest and Femke Verschueren, last year’s participant, handed him the ticket to the Netherlands.
Fabian is fourteen years old and comes from Arendonk. In his spare time he plays soccer and he plays guitar and piano. He is a fan of the tough rock music of Greenday or Simple Plan.
