Eurovision – UK Decides

In a few minutes, Eurovision – Your Decision, the programme to select the UK song for Belgrade, will begin. Six songs are vying for the honour

Terry Wogan and Claudia Winkleman are your presenters and a panel of three, including Terry, will decide which songs go through to the public vote. One song from each of the three sections and one wildcard (chosen by Terry only) will be selected by the panel. The other two members of the panel are singer and actor, John Barrowman and Carrie Grant, vocal coach and member of Sweet Dreams (UK 1983)

First up are the girl groups starting with LoveShy singing Mr Gorgeous. One is in Pink, the other in Yellow. They are supported by two male dancers and two female singers.

Hoping to get the judges vote insted are The Revalations singing It’s You. They are dressed in red, blue and black dresses and are suppoted by musicians.

After a bit of deliberation, the panel have chosen….The Revalations by a unanimous decision. No need for Terry this time, who refused to say who he would have voted for.

We are now being treated to a compilation of ‘Song For Europe’ entries

The next section is Joseph v Maria. Rob McVeigh is about to sing ‘Owe It All To You’. The presentation is very simple, just himself and four backing singers. His solid performance went down well with the audience.

Romanian born Simona Armstrong is next with her song, Changes. Backed by forur backing singers, she is wearing a dress wgich resembles a ballet skirt combined with a bodice.  Another strong performance but who will the judges choose?

The judges were again united in the decision to choose Simona. This time, Terry gave his opinion and said he would have also voted for Simona.

Now it’s time for the ‘Terry’s’, a light hearted award cerimony featuring Terry’s favourite performances from Eurovision.

The final category is the Soloists. The first to sing for the judges and the viewers is ex X-Factor contestant, Andy Abraham singing ‘Even If’. It’s a mid-tempo funky song.

The final act of the night is actress/singer Michelle Gayle singing ‘Woo (You Make Me). The image is 1960’s for this modern sounding song. As expected, they both gave good performances. Over to the judges.

The judges left for than a couple of clues that they would vote for Michelle Gayle, and they did.

That just leaves Terry and his wildcard to complete the final four going through to the later show at 2130 GMT. The unlucky three acts were brought on to the stage to hear Terry’s choice. The audience did their best to influence him and he eventually choose Andy Abraham.
