Is this just because of Lena’s victory? The songs of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest have become very popular in Germany.
In previous years, there were mostly only the winners who could reach a mediocre position in the German charts. But this year, you can find three Eurovision songs in the current top 30.
After being number 7 the week before, Satellite has climbed again to the top. Lena’s first album, My Cassette Player, stayed at number 1 for another week. The songs she presented in the final of Unser Star für Oslo, Bee and Love Me can be found at number 48 and number 51.
Tom Dice from Belgium, who received 12 points from Germany, entered the charts on 20th position. Safura completes the good placings of Eurovision songs. She reached number 26. Her video is also played on the German music channel Viva TV.
Jennifer Braun, this year’s runner up in the German final, can be found on number 54. Her song, I Care For You, can often be heard on the radio.
And finally Alexander Rybak is back. He returns to the charts on 49th place this week.
It is fair to say that Jessy Matador from France is very successful in the German download charts. Nevertheless you cannot find him in the German Top 100 as the single has not been released so far.
It seems that Lena’s victory has made the Eurovision Song Contest more popular in Germany. Let’s hope that this will last for a long time.
