Dutch Hearts Belong to Hind

This evening, the Dutch heard the song which will carry their hopes in Belgrade. It is called ‘My Heart Belongs to You’ and will be sung by Dutch/Moroccan singer, Hind.

The Dutch television show, ‘Thank God It’s Friday’, was the chosen outlet to present the song, which Hind says is a “cool pop song with oriental influences.” It was written by herself, Tjeerd van Zanen and Bas van den Heuvel, about five years ago. Tjeerd wrote the 1999 Dutch Eurovision song, “One Good Reason” and Bas has connections with 2005 Dutch singer, Glennis Grace.

The Netherlands is one of the original Eurovision countries and, like many of the traditional countries, has seen a dip in fortunes since the arrival of the Eastern European countries and the introduction on the semi-finals. In fact, they have yet to qualify from the semi-finals since they were introduced. This has led to suggestions that they will withdraw from the contest if this continues.

Find out if the Netherlands can qualify for the final for the first time in the first semi-final on Tuesday 20th May. NOS have announced that will broadcast both semi-finals.
