The 63rd Sanremo festival reached the halfway point this evening with all fourteen songs left in the Campioni section performing and the remaining four acts in the newcomers ‘Novita’ section competing for the two places left in the final.
With each Campioni losing one of their songs over Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, they all performed tonight and each song was voted for by the public via a phone vote, and a jury consisting of members of the assembled press. The total scores were not revealed, but the placings after the telvote were given at the end of teh show. The total score will go towards the overall score accumulated on Saturday night during the ‘Ultima Serata’ of the festival.
In order of appearance, the singers were:
Simona Molinari e Peter Cincotti – La Felicità
Marco Mengoni – L’essenziale
Elio e le Storie Tese – La Canzone Mononota
Malika Ayane – E se Poi
Marta sui Tubi – Vorrei
Chiara Galiazzo – Il Futuro che Sarà
Max Gazzè – Sotto Casa
Annalisa Scarrone – Scintille
Maria Nazionale – E’ Colpa Mia
Simone Cristicchi – La Prima Volta (che Sono Morto)
Modà – Se si Potesse non Morire
Daniele Silvestri – A Bocca Chiusa
Almamegretta – Mamma non lo Sa
Raphael Gualazzi – Sai (ci Basta un Sogno)
After they had all performed, the four acts yet to sing in the Giovani category for up and coming singers were voted on with the same system, with the two highest placed songs joining the two qualifiers from last night in the Giovani final tomorrow night.
Andrea Nardinocchi – Storia Impossibile
Antonio Maggio – Mi Servirebbe Sapere
Paolo Simoni – Le Parole
Ilaria Porceddu – In Equilibrio
Before the results were announced, it was time for a brief master class from a true legend of Italian music, Al Bano. He gave a burst of Nostalgia Canaglia, his song from the 1987 festival, and E la Mia Vita, one of the most personal songs in his repertoire, from the 1996 festival. The reception he received from the audience demonstrated the status in which he is held in Italy.
Antonio Maggio and Ilaria Porceddu were the lucky two voted through to compete to join the long list of Giovani winners, some of whom have established themselves as worldwide stars, such as Andrea Bocelli.
The public have so far placed the artists in the following order:
14th – Almamegretta
13th – Marta sui Tubi
12th – Malika Ayane
11th – Simone cristicchi
10th – Max Gazze
9th – Daniele Silvestre
8th – Elio e le Storie Tese
7th – Maria Nazionale
6th – Simone Molinari e Peter Cincotti
5th – Raphael Gualazzi
4th – Chiara Galiazzo
3rd – Annalisa Scarrone
2nd – Moda
1st – Marco Mengoni
The above results are only provisional and only reflect the votes of the public, not the press jury vote. There will be another phone vote on Saturday as well as another jury vote, plus the votes of the ‘Guria Demoscopia’ will be added as well, so everything could change.
