8th round of Lithuanian preselection Eurovizijos – five acts and technical problems

Tonight the Lithuanian preselection marathon held its 8th round to search the country’s representative for Copenhagen. The five remaining artists performed two songs each. At the end one act should have been eliminated. Due to technical problems on the verification of the televoting the announcement of the results was postponed to Monday.

Lithuanias preselection is for sure one of the longest of this year’s season. At the beginning a total of ten shows were planned to search the
Lithuanian representative for Copenhagen, but due to very high viewing figures they extended the number of the shows to twelve. Tonight we saw the 8th show (the 9th if we include the jubilee show mid December). Two more will follow before the big final will finally be held on March 1st.

Just like last week the remaining five artists had to perform two songs each.

The songs (first round):

MiaIt’s not too late

Martynas Kavaliauskas Worlds apart

Vilija MatačiūnaitėBlowing out cobwebs

Vaidas Baumila  Attention

Monika LinkyteYou found me

Second round:

MiaIt’s all about a boy

Martynas Kavaliauskas Take a look at me now

Vilija MatačiūnaitėDying

Vaidas Baumila  – Is this the way?

Monika LinkyteLet’s share that luve tonight

A combination of jury and public vote decided who would get the opportunity to compete again
next week and who of the five artists would be eliminated

The results:

The jury voted as following:

Monika Linkyte 33 votes

Vilija Matačiūnaitė 26 votes

Vaidas Baumila 25 votes

Mia 21 votes

Martynas Kavaliauskas 15 votes

As there were problems with the verification of the televotes the announcement of the results was postponed to Monday. We will know then who will perform again next Saturday and can still hope to get the ticket to Copenhagen.
