Eurovision host joins Dancing With The Stars

The leading host of this years Eurovision Song Contest, Oleksandr Skichko, will join the celebrity line up for the returning season of Dancing With The Stars in Ukraine. He joins the show after a public invitation on social media.

One third of this year’s Eurovision hosting line up, Oleksandr Skichko, has joined the latest series of Dancing With The Stars, Ukraine.

The dancing competition has returned to the broadcaster 1+1 after a 10 year hiatus. To draw extra attention and media coverage to the reboot of the show, the starts were invited to the show individually on social media with the hashtag #танціззіркамиchallenge (Dancing with the Stars challenge). Each celebrity either accepted or declined the challenge with each nominated celebrity then inviting another to participate.

The host and comedian was invited to join the show by Kateryna Kukhar, a prominent Ukrainian ballerina who will feature as a new judge on the panel.

Skichko is joined by other famous Ukrainian faces such as Olya Polyakova who participated in the country’s national selection show in 2012 with the song Lepestok. Alongside former Miss World Kamaliya who many might recognise from the British TV series Meet The Russians.

In the first episode Oleksandr was dancing the jive with his professional dancing partner Anna Palamarchuk. They received 20 points for their performance to James Brown’s I Got You (Feeling Good) which was enough to send them through to next week’s show

Tina Karol was a guest on the first show to air this weekend with a performance of two tracks from her latest album Интонации (Intonation).
