Eurovision 2017: Cyprus likely to go for internal selection

After last year’s commercial and television success of the Eurovision Song Contest in Cyprus with the internal selection of the popular rock band Minus One, broadcaster CyBC seems to be heading for another internal selection to pick their 2017 representative.

Cyprus has already confirmed its participation at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest and it seems that the Cypriot broadcaster is planning their next steps. According to local media Showtime, a male known Cypriot artist is already in discussions with CyBC in order to wave the Cypriot flag in Kyiv, Ukraine at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Discussions, according to the same report, appears to be quite far, but the board of CyBC still needs to approve.

At this year’s contest in Stockholm, Cyprus participated with the song Alter Ego written by Minus One and Thomas G:son. Cyprus qualified for the second time in a row to the final and performed in position 14 and ranked 21st out of the 26 participating countries, scoring totally 96 points.
