It seems fans of Chelsea are trying to spoil the chances of Norway winning the Eurovision Song Contest, if The Daily Star is to be believed.
Football supporters being what they are, the Chelsea fans are still angry at the performance of Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovreboof during last week’s Champions League semifinal, when they were beaten by Barcelona. They are angry that, as they see it, the referee gave many crucial decisions against them. To get their revenge, they have launched an internet campaign to stop Norway, currently the bookies favourite, winning the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday.
A fan is quoted as saying “They robbed Chelsea of the chance to play in the Champions League final, so let’s rob them of the Eurovision trophy.”
The article doesn’t say who they will vote for instead, so presumably their votes will now be spread among the other countries. If this is so, the campaign is doomed to fail.
Readers not familiar with The Daily Star should be aware that it is not the most reliable of newspapers, so perhaps a little caution is required. That said, I can believe that football fans are capable of such silliness
