Iceland reveals their possible entries for Eurovision 2017

Today RÚV Iceland have revealed the twelve songs selected for participation in the Song Contest 2017. Over 200 entries were submitted to the contest, which will be conducted similar to last year.

The semifinals will take place at Háskólabíó on Saturday, February 25th and Saturday, March 4th. The final will be held at Laugardalshöll on March 11th. The three competition events will be broadcast live on RÚV.

As in previous years, the public will be able to purchase tickets to the events. Ticket sales open on Wednesday, February 1st, on tix.is. Individual tickets will be available, as well as a special discounted package, the “All the Way“ package, which is valid for all three evenings.

The winning song of the Song Contest will be Iceland’s entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine, on May 9th, 11th and 13th. The songs will be performed in Icelandic in the semifinals, with six songs competing each evening. The three songs that receive the greatest number of votes by phone each evening are guaranteed a spot in the finals. Six songs will therefore participate in the final of the Song Contest at Laugardalshöll on March 11th. RÚV reserves the right to send one additional song to the final if they so choose.

The event will be hosted by Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir, who has served on the contest’s executive board as for the past several years.
