Tonight, the third show in the national selections, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, was held in Finland. The second half of the best twelve qualifiers fought the battle to be in the next round. Four acts qualified and two of them were eliminated. Spyro got the wildcard for next week’s show.
In the first show of UMK, the top twelve acts among forty nominees were revealed to the public by the Finnish broadcaster YLE. Last week the second show – actually the first elimination round – in the selection process was held and the first half of the twelve participants fought for the next round where four acts have qualified and the two of them failed.
Tonight the second elimination heat was held in Helsinki. The second half of the top twelve participants gave their best to be one of the qualifiers. Four acts qualified for the next round where two acts were eliminated. The running order of the night was:
• Iconcrash – We Are The Night
• Aura Pineda – Kunpa Vois
• Freeman & Uusi Fantasia – Noitanainen
• Leola – Rytmit Rikkoutuu
• Ville Eetvartti – Lasikaupunki
• Kaisa Vala – Habits Of Human Beings
The special jury has decided that Aura Pineda and Leola will not continue to the next round of UMK 2012. In the meantime, The Spyro, who received the 75% in the fan vote, got the wildcard in the selections. That means they will be joining the competition the next week. The list of participants in the selection now looks like (in alphabetical order):

Next week, these nine participants will perform in front of an audience in what is being called a ‘club gig’. Two of them will have to be eliminated from the selections. The final show will be held in the Ice Hall in Helsinki with the six participants. The show will take place on 25th of February and the Rasmus, Anne Abreu, Paradise Oscar will also be the guests.
