Little information has previously been available regarding the first 5 challengers for the task of representing Iceland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Broadcaster RÚV have now however prior to the first heat of Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins this coming Saturday released full versions of the first 5 entries.
The entries that are participating in the first heat on Saturday, 15th of January are:
Erna Hrönn Ólafsdóttir – Ástin Mín Eina / My Only Love (Arnar Ástráðsson)
Böddi og JJ Soul Band – Lagið Þitt / Your Song (Ingvi Þór Kormáksson)
Pétur Örn Guðmundsson – Elísabet (Pétur Örn Guðmundsson)
Hanna Guðný Hitchon – Huldumey / Elf Maiden (Ragnar Hermannsson)
Haraldur Reynisson – Ef Ég Hefði Vængi / If Only I Had Wings (Haraldur Reynisson)
It is yet to be confirmed by RÚV whether or not this is the actual running order of the entries on the night. The Icelandic selection process this year will consist of three qualification heats which will take place on the 15th, 22nd and 29th of January. The final will take place on the 12th of February.
