RÚV opens a poll for Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins

After the procedure had been set by the Icelandic national broadcaster Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV) in early September, the corporation’s radio channel RÁS2 opened a new poll where everyone can have their say about Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins’ 2012 edition.

This year, the Icelandic national selection, Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins’ 2012 edition set off in early September. The national broadcaster, RÚV, asked the public to tell them the names they would like to participate in the selections by going to the webpage of radio channel RÁS2.

In the page of RÁS2, everyone is asked to choose 3 favourites out of 30 names. It is also stated that with this procedure, they would want to learn who the best singers currently in the country are and they also would want to know who the public would want to see in Baku.

If you want to take part in this poll, you can vote for up to three names who would want to see them to participate Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins’ 2012 edition, maybe in Baku!

In meanwhile, the deadline of submissions have not passed yet,the process will continue until the 10th of October. We don’t know how many songs have been submitted and how many preliminary heats there will be, but the format will be kept as in previous years. Anyone with Icelandic citizenship and also legal residence of Iceland can submit up to 3 songs. It’s expected that preliminary heats will possibly start in January.
Last year, Sjonni’s Friends represented this country with their song Coming Home, receiving 20th placing with 61 points.
