After four semi finals Lithuania held their national final tonight in Vilnius. After a combination of televoting and expert jury, Donny Montell will head to Baku with the song, Love Is Blind.
12 acts qualified directly from the semi finals. Greta Smidt also qualified as the winner of a smart phone interactive competition and Sati made it to the final after voting on the official website and Facebook.
Here are the 14 performers and songs –
1. The Independent Baby – This three piece male band have a rock sound similar to the British group, the Who. The drummer is playing with his back to the audience. A little noisy and not a great start to the show.
2. Alive Way Amazed By You – Acoustic sound from this five piece band. I found my mind wandering during this performance. Not very interesting.
3. Greta Smidt The One – Greta is wearing a red dress and she has four male dancers dressed in white jackets. This is a very catchy and upbeat dance song.
4. Sati Light Is The One – A haunting and dramatic song. Sati has an interesting voice, changing her style through the song to an operatic feel. A nice melody throughout this song. Good performance.
5. Vytautas Matuzas Take It Back – Vytautas is in a wheelchair and he raps to this hip-hop sound and moves around the stage. There are three seated violinists. The catchy and melodic chorus is sung by a female. There is a guitar solo with fireworks too. An excellent show.
6. Monika Happy – This is an upbeat and very happy song. Monika is joined on stage by three male dancers and two female backing vocalists. A real feel good song.
7. Vig Roses Come Back Home – The two girls are dressed in black. This is a rock ballad well performed but the song does not last in the memory very long.
8. Multiks Star – An electro pop song with a retro sound a little like Depeche Mode or Duran Duran. Good performance.
9. Katazina Euphoria – This has a gypsy sound with some Spanish type guitar. Katazina is dressed in pink. A lively performance.
10. Simona Milinyte One Of A Kind – This is a happy commercial dance song. Simona is in a gold dress and is joined on stage by two female dancers and two female backing vocals.
11. Beissoul Why – A soulful sound. There are four female vocals on stage and Beissoul has very soulful voice. Nice melody. The audience enjoyed this one.
12. Bekeso Vilkai Letter By Letter – Bekeso is wearing a blue dress and accompanied by four male backing vocalists. This has a soulful, summery jazz feel to the song. A very nice performance.
13. Donny Montell Love Is Blind – Donny (also known as Donatas Montvydas) begins the song blindfolded. The song begins slowly and when he removes the blindfold it turns in to a happy and uptempo song with synth sounds and lovely melody.
14. DAR Home –
The three piece male band are joined by two female backing vocalists. This is a mid tempo pop song. The audience like this a lot and you can hear some female screaming.
The interval begins with Anggun from France performing her 2012 Eurovision song, Echo (You & I), and another of her hits.
The top three acts are called to the stage – Donatas Montvidas, DAR, Monika.
Kurt Caleja from Malta then performs his 2012 Eurovision entry, This Is The Night.
We are then shown a preview postcard film about the 2012 hosts, Azerbaijan. A representative from the country gives a speach about Azerbaijan and invites everyone to Baku!
Finally, it is annouced that Donny Montell will represent Lithuania in Baku with Love Is Blind.
