Despite predictions of a walkover victory in this year’s Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins, Jóhanna shockingly failed to reach the top and gain the right to represent the saga nation for a second time at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Fans reacted with disbelief when Sjónni’s Friends were announced as the Icelandic representatives with Aftur Heim. Jóhanna’s fans need not mope however, as the gifted young star is keeping busy after her defeat. An English language version of her entry Nótt (Nighttime) has been recorded and released on iTunes today, under the title Slow Down. She has previously released two singles, Is It True, which went on to enjoy considerable success across Europe, and I Miss You, charting only in her native Iceland. Hopefully the buzz created surrounding her entry Nótt will help her newest release scale the same heights as she did two years ago after placing second in Moscow.
Presumably her entry will also be included on her album which is also scheduled for release some time this year, alongside another song also mentioned on Yohanna’s website Believe It Or Not.
