Dainu Daina: Lithuanian 1st semifinal

This Saturday, the Lithuanian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, Dainu Diana, held its first semifinal. Ten acts performed for the final tickets, and five of them qualified for the final, which will be held on 14th february.

The show came from Vilnus, the capital of Lithuania, and started at 20.00 Central Europe Time. The show was broadcast by LTR, which is a member of the European Broadcasting Union. The first semifinal was performed with these songs in the running order below:

1. Aurelija – Part of Me
2. Egidijus Sipavicius – Per mazai
3. Violeta Tarasoviene – Aš busiu šalia
4. Vilius Tarasovas – Aš tik tavim tikiu
5. Darius Pranckevicius & Violeta Valskyte – Nelyleta viltis
6. Karina & Milanno – Kelias pas tave
7. Sasha Son – Pasiklydes Åmogus
8. Rosita Civilyte & Donatas Montvydas – Dainu daina
9. BIX – Gyvenimo valsas
10. Linas Adomaitis – Tavo spalvos

During the show, the LTR head of delegation appeared on stage and announced that Deivis with the song Lietuva and Ruta and Lukoseviciute with the song Trapus Zmogus were disqualified from the semi finals because the songs had been plagiarised. Deivis won the second quarter final of Dainu Daina, while Ruta Lukoseviciute was placed third in the last quarter final on the previous Saturday.

The five acts qualified to the final are listed below:

1st – Sasha Son – Pasiklydes zmogus
2nd – Darius & Violeta – Nelyteta viltis
3rd – Linas Adomaitis – Tavo spalvos
4th – Aurelija – Part of me
5th – Karina Krysko & Milanno – Kelias pas tave 

The eleminated songs that will replace them in the next semi final will be announced during this week. The second LRT wildcard will also be presented this week. There will be five more songs added to the grand final which will be held on 14th February.
