In Denmark this Christmas month starts with a gift from Basim in form of a new single, which he himself describes as the best he has written so far. Big words, but there is something about it. Picture In A Frame is a beautiful song, which many artists would be proud of.
He made Europe dance and sing a long to Skuba duba dabda dididaj. It might not have been the big masterpiece, but Basim delivered exactly what Denmark needed on homefield at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest; a party. He finished 9th in the final with the song Cliche Love Song.
Today Basim released his first self written single since Eurovision titled Picture In A Frame. It tells the story of breaking up from a long releationship and realising that all you have left is a picture in a frame. It is something completely different than his Eurovision entry. Picture In A Frame runs with a piano in the background, and it suits his voice pefectly. Just a year ago Basim was seen as the Talent show competitor who lacked vocal skills, but had the teenage girls on his side. His Eurovision entry proved that he had developed, but the critics weren’t yet all too impressed. Picture In A Frame has to change that. His voice is great and he comes across as a mature and thoughtful artist who knows who he is. It is a beautiful song, and no doubt something to be proud of.
About the new single, Basim says to Danish broadcaster DR: "It has been a long process to make and I have been very dedicated to the different sounds and the little details. It has been important to me that both the tune and the lyrics was spot on". He also mentions that he thinks it is the best he has written so far.
Picture In A Frame is from today available as official download as well as on Spotify.
