Get ready to hear “Open Up” a lot up until and during next year’s Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Today, next year’s slogan was presented.
Rotterdam won the right to host the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in competition with 8 other cities. One by one they fell off, until only Rotterdam and Maastricht was left. On the 30th of August, Rotterdam was declared the final winner.
Officially, the contest last two weeks with the three live shows taking place on the 12th, 14th and 16th of May, but before submitting their bid Rotterdam promised an eight week long Eurovision party. How this will come across, we are yet to hear more about. But preparations for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest are in full swing, and so far, reports are saying that everything is going well and according to plan. Compared to many other years where building projects had to take place, Ahoy arena can pretty much be used as it is.
This evening, the official slogan for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest reached the public. Later this year, the matching artwork will be revealed.
The slogan ‘Open Up’ is intentionally incomplete: Open up to each other. Open up to music. Open up to Rotterdam. Open up to… whatever you choose! Feel the freedom to complete the slogan in your own way. That way we get to know each other better.
