Armenian TV is ready to start the search for their 2017 Eurovision participant. The search will happen through a new selection format which will last three months and involve former Armenian Eurovision representatives. Interested candidates can apply soon.
In a press release today, Armenian broadcaster AMPTV revealed that a new format will be used to select their 2017 Eurovision participants. Under the title Depi Evratesil (To Eurovision) former Armenian representatives will search for who shall follow in their footsteps.
The Armenian selection will last three months, and those interested in representing Armenia at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest will have to apply to take part in auditions. Between the 6th of July and the 25th of August they can apply at the broadcaster’s Eurovision website. Only Armenian or people with Armenian heritage can take part, and the applicants must be minimum 16 years old.

Armenia was in 2016 represented by Iveta Mukuchyan who finished 7th with the song LoveWave. The country debuted at the contest in 2006 and have been among the most succesful countries only failing once to reach the final.
Though Armenia is yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest, they have only twice finished outside top 10. Their best placements is two 4th places, in 2008 by Sirusho and in 2014 by Aram Mp3.
