Two more artists through to the Icelandic final

In the second heat of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins, the Icelandic pre-selection, Ingó and Hreindís Ylva Garðarsdóttir Holm were the ones to qualify for the Icelandic final that will take place on the 14th of February.

The first song in this weeks heat is Páll Rósinkrans with the song Fósturjörð (Native Land). Páll has competed several times in the Icelandic selection, with his most recent entry being Gef mér von, which competed in last year’s final. The song kind of feels like a mixture of the title song to a love movie and a 1990s Eurovision Song Contest ballad. The performance was modest and very suitable for the character of the song.

Icelandic composer and artist Eiríkur Hauksson has written the lyrics to the second song in the heat, Undir regnbogann (Under the Rainbow). The song is performed by Ingó. Undir regnbogann is a feelgood song that leaves you feeling happy. On stage he was accompanied by two girls in uniforms with a sailor theme playing tuba.

The third song in the heat, Vornótt (spring night) is performed by Hreindís Ylva Garðarsdóttir Holm. As well as Páll Rósinkrans song this is a ballad and a very modest performance. This is a song that brings your thoughts to fairytales.

The fourth and last song, Glópagull (Fool’s Gold) is performed by Erna and Lísa. It’s a feelgood song with a chorus that sticks like chewing gum. The performance is energetic and Erna and Lísa are very charismatic.
