Iceland – 3rd Semi Final Completed

The third semi-final of Iceland’s Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins’ was held last Saturday by its national public broadcaster RUV. Two acts claimed the last places available in the final.

Five acts competed that night and only two songs could go thorough to grand final. The competing acts were:

Arnar Jónsson – Þúsund Stjörnur
Sjonni Brinck – Waterslide
Hera Björk – Je Ne Sais Quoi
Steinarr Logi Nesheim – Every Word
Anna Hlín – Komdu Á Morgun Til Mín

One of those names, Hera Björk, participated in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with her song Someday in 2009, where her song, Someday, was the runner up. That song recently won OGAE’s Second Chance contest this year. She also was a backing singer for the Icelandic singers in the Eurovisio Song Contest in 2008 and 2009. Arnar Jónsson and Sjonni Brinck are also well known names who have participated in the Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins before.

Sjonni Brinck and Hera Björk made it to the grand final at Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins after the third semi final results were announced. With these names, Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins has completed its final line up:

Íris Hólm – The One
Matthías Matthíasson – Out Of Sight
Hvanndalsbræður – Gleði Og Glens
Jógvan Hansen – One More Day
Hera Björk – Je Ne Sais Quoi
Sjonni Brinck – Waterslide
