Yesterday the two best 5th positions from the previous heats were announced and today they were matched with the six who came third and fourth. The 8 acts will have to win two duels in the knock out rounds on Saturday in order to qualify for the Norwegian final on 6th of February.
The 2010 Norwegian selection has presented 21 songs in three preliminary heats. The TV viewers were asked to vote and the two they liked the most were awarded with a direct qualification to the final on 6th of February. The acts coming third and fourth were given an extra chance to qualify as well in the so-called “Siste Sjanse” (Last Chance) that will take place on Saturday the 30th of January. In order to have four duels for this round the two best fifth positions were put in here as well. As it wasn’t announced who came 5th, 6th or 7th in the three shows all the remaining artists basically had to wait until yesterday to find out if they were in or out.
With the announcement of Skanksters and Johnny Hide as the lucky 5th positions we have now 8 acts ready who will compete for the last two places in the Norwegian final and thereby a chance to represent their country on home field in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest.
The show on Saturday will be divided in two. First we have the four basic duels and after half an hour break the winner of duel 1 will be up against the winner of duel2. In the same way will the winner of duel3 be up against the winner of duel4. This results in two winners who will then qualify for the final.
The eight acts have been paired like this:
Duel1: Skanksters vs. Bjørn Johan Muri
Duel2: Gaute Ormåsen vs. Heine Totland
Duel3: Johnny Hide vs. Mira Craig
Duel4: Karoline Garfjell vs. Venke Knutson
