Finland will be performing 5th in the upcoming First Semi Final this Tuesday. The country is represented by Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät with the song Aina Mun Pitää (I’m Do It). Are there any changes since the country’s first rehearsal? What is the impression left by the song amongst the other entries in the running order? We try to answer your questions reporting live from inside the hall of Wiener Stadthalle.
No major changes that I can readily pick up since Finland’s first rehearsal on Monday. The direction and camera work makes the stage look really animated whereas an impression of brick walls in the background as well as scattered sound equipment (some of the speakers – or is it amplifiers? – look conspicuously similar to the set used for Denmark’s presentation). I was about to say that this looks quite tidy for Finland, but perhaps the word ‘tidy’ would not be taken as a compliment by Punk rockers like Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät, that’s why I am going to say that the presentation looks solid. There is some talking from on of the members of the group in between runs of the song but, as this is in Finish, I could not tell what it si about. Finland should be happy with their rehearsal today.
Well, you can bet that Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät are going to attract attention. Even though punk rock is not for everyone (definitely not an obvious music genre for Eurovision), my impression is that tele-viewers will warm up to the Finnish group and admire their achievement.
Finland has managed to qualify six out of the ten times the country has been in the semi finals.
