Dates for Eurovision Song Contest 2017 scheduled

With exactly two months to go until the final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest takes place, the date for next year’s contest has been announced. As always these are subject to change due to other larger TV events or other commitments by the host broadcaster. A draw for Sweden’s starting position took place as well.

At the Head of Delegation meeting in Stockholm, Sweden today, all the 43 participating entries was submitted. A few of them are still to be presented to be the public, but all met the deadline from EBU and as such everything should be in order.

What also happened today was the announcement of the dates for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. The first semi-final is scheduled for the the 16th of May, the second for the 18th of May and the big final naturally then on Saturday the 20th. Have in mind that these dates are to be changed if it collides with any other larger TV event or if it fits the host broadcaster better. In two months we will know who that host broadcaster will be.

Sweden has been drawn into starting position 9 in the final. We won’t know the others yet as it will be up to the producers. Based on music, colours, stage performance etc. the producers from SVT will make a running order which EBU can object against though. So far the semi final countries only know if they are taking part in first or second semi-final, and if they start in first or second half. To see who is where, please do check out our allocation draw article.
