Krista Siegfrids is the one of the brightest, newest stars on the Finnish music scene. She was born in the small town of Kaskö in Western Finland, belonging to the Swedish-speaking minority. She has previously studied as a teacher, but those career plans were put on hold, when she discovered that the real passion in her life was music. Ambition and drive led her to start a group, Daisy Jack, in 2009. While with the group, they released a single, Perfect Crime in 2011.
At the same time, Krista found her feet in the world of theatre, landing a role in the production Play Me at the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki from 2009-2010.This gave her a taste for more, and she developed herself even further as a versatile artist, when cast in the rock musical Muskettisoturit (The Three Musketeers) in Helsinki in 2011. Daisy Jack could no longer contain her, as her ambitions and plans became bigger and bigger, and so she concentrated on her solo career.
Part of her plan to make her way to the top was to gain exposure, and that she did, by taking part in the Voice Of Finland reality talent show, where she made it as far as the semi finals round. This gave her the springboard she needed to launch herself as an artist and since then she has toured Finland and has also given concerts in the other Nordic countries. Prior to her participation in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, Krista had been performing through the autumn of last year in the cabaret Ihan mahdoton Kabaree, Go, go at the Peacock Theatre in Helsinki. She was recently signed to Universal Music and is currently working on her debut album, which is scheduled for release on the 10th of May.
