Amaury Vassili was born in Rouen, France in 1989 and is actually the youngest professional tenor in the world. He is classically trained, having been passionately involved with music since the tender age of 9. At the age of 14 he entered his first contest and won performing Amsterdam by Jacques Brel, one of Vassili’s idols, according to himself. He went on to compete in and win the Coupe de France de la Chanson Française, gaining further recognition.
Vassili’s major breakthrough however came with his debut album Vincero, which was released in 2009 and shifted just under 250,000 copies in France obtaining double platinum status. The debut also garnered him success in such far flung territories as Belgium, South Africa, Canada and South Korea. A follow up was released in November 2010, entitled Canterò.
